My Child Hates Revision

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT WAYS TO MAKE HIS INTEREST IN REVISION?
“Revision is not going back and fussing around, but going forward into the process of creation.”
Revision often sounds like a boring task for kids. In the present world of gadgets it’s quite difficult for parents to make children sit and revise. It’s something which is an unimportant piece of work from a child’s viewpoint.
But the truth is not this; revision is a good exercise for the brain and brings a sense of confidence. It’s like a reinforcement of the concepts taught in school. Moreover it also arise a sense of responsibility.
Never force your kid to do something because if his heart and mind are not in coordination he will never enjoy doing the given task and ultimately the result would not be positive.
Make studies fun for kids and instead of jumping into their task make them responsible to sit and complete the given task. Some parents often think that the task given by the teacher is the responsibility of a parent and should be completed in the best way so that the notebook is full of good remarks, which is a misconception. Revision is the best way to teach your kid responsibility. Instead of forcing your children to do revision make them responsible for this job.
Explain them the importance of studies in life. Kids always follow their parents so try to be a role model for them, instead of killing time on face book or any other social media keep yourself occupied with some useful and creative work. It will set an example before the kid to value time.
As we all fix time for most of the activities in the similar way we must fix a time for the revision and stick to this time-table. Set small targets for your kid, instead of making child sit and study for hours give him a break after every 40 minutes and plan a small activity of about 5 minutes which refreshes the mind and again reinforces the child to sit and revise. Always tell him not to stop when he is tired tell him to stop when he is done. Always motivate your child by giving them positive compliments such as: – well done, good job, excellent etc. such motivational words always act as a positive reinforcement for your kid and the child gets re-energized to perform the next task.
One important point should always be kept in mind that your motivation should not be in the form of objects like eatables, some kind of gifts etc which are the biggest distractions, and by doing this we are inculcating the habit of bribing, which is a negative reinforcement. Never get angry on your kid if he is not ready for the revision after all your main aim is to create his interest in studies and not to drag his attention away from studies. Make revision an interesting exercise for them and share your ideas or give them tips to make revision interesting and a fun activity. If a child finds something difficult try to make it easy for him by setting simple examples or by designing an activity related to the topic.
As a parent you know your kid better so instead of imposing something on him make him grasp things the way he want not the way u want him to do.
